Spice up your life with a bottle of Arbikie Chilli Vodka!

Arbikie Distillery is the first distillery in Scotland to distil vodka from potatoes. Arbikie Highland Estate is a working farm where they grow their own potatoes, wheat, strawberries and much more. They use the ingredients grown on the farm and nearby areas to make their lovely craft spirits. So basically, they make their spirits from scratch, and the whole distillation process takes place at the distillery located on the farm right next to where they grow the potatoes! Want to know more? Arbikie Vodka is made from heart-shaped potatoes not suitable for supermarkets. Well, they do use other shapes too, just not the usual round ones. The potato vodka is triple distilled in copper-pot stills and it also goes through a 40-plate distillation column. The final spirit is very smooth. To make Arbikie Chilli Vodka, 43% ABV, some chipotle chillies are left to soak in with the potato vodka base. The maceration time varies; as soon as there is a nice balance between the flavours and heat, the chillies are removed. And that’s all, no artificial flavourings or other extracts are added.

The chipotle chillies come from Scotland’s one and only chilli farm, Chillilicious in Fife. Chipotle is a smoke-dried jalapeno which is typically used in Mexican foods. These chillies add slight smokiness and earthy notes to Arbikie Vodka, and obviously just the right amount of spiciness.

If you are a lover of a good old Bloody Mary then this is a vodka for you! Arbikie Chilli Vodka is suitable for many cocktails, see below for a few recipe ideas.
