Try these! – All-natural vodka shots by PURE Shots!

PURE Shots from Denmark are designed with two purposes in mind: they are delicious served as shots (neither too strong nor too sweet) or mixed in many cocktails. Both Liquorice Shots and Pure Passion are made with only natural ingredients, and each bottle is carefully mixed to guarantee the best flavour possible. (Apparently, each mix is tasted to make sure the balance of flavours is just right… tough job, but someone’s got to do it!) The brand has only recently reached the UK market and I have teamed up with PURE Shots to give you a chance to win a bottle of each to try at home! See how to enter at the end of this post.

PURE Liquorice

PURE Liquorice, 24% ABV, is made with four ingredients: liquorice, salmiak salt (all Nordics rejoice!), vodka and cane sugar. The liquorice extract is obtained from dried liquorice root, which gives the shot an intense and pure liquorice flavour. Salmiak salt is used to balance the sweetness of the liquorice. These are then blended in with vodka, which starts as 96% pure vodka before it is diluted with water from Aarhus, Denmark.

Overall, the combination of these ingredients creates a lovely syrupy consistency, which is sweet yet slightly salty. As a Finn, and a hardcore salmiakki lover, I would like a little bit more punchiness, but I can see how this is a prefect liquorice shot for beginners and therefore suitable for British taste buds.

PURE Passion

Passionfruit PURE Shot, 16.4% ABV, is made with Sicilian lemons and passionfruit, mangos from Spain, vodka and cane sugar. Like Liquorice Shots, it is made with all-natural ingredients and no added flavourings. It has a very syrupy and sticky consistency, but due to its natural ingredients it is not sickly sweet. The taste of this shot reminds me of Solero ice cream! Again, we Finns enjoy strong punchy shots, normally simply vodka, so this is slightly on the weaker side for me, BUT it works wonders in cocktails.

One of my favourite cocktails is a Pornstar Martini, and PURE Passionfruit is just perfect for that! This also works well with gin – try it in a Collins, for example. You can create a simple but delicious drink by adding it to Prosecco.

One of the latest adventures with PURE Shots is to match each shot with a tasty craft beer! Beer enthusiasts are finding the perfect brews to match with PURE Shots. Then you just sip both, one at a time, and enjoy the flavour combinations complementing each other. I have tried this before with Mexican beer and tequila and totally loved it, so I am definitely up for this experiment!
