It is time for our annual Pinkster Gin Valentine’s Day competition. This year we are feeling rather generous and instead of a gin bottle, we are giving away a hamper full of gin goodies! And there’s more… But first, let me introduce you to Pinkster Gin.
Let the love beGin
Pinkster is an all-natural gin which is both distilled and compound. The base spirit is distilled with five key gin botanicals, including juniper and black peppercorn, then after distillation, the gin is left to macerate with three more botanicals, including the legendary juicy raspberries. These raspberries are locally grown and selected with care. Even with its blush colour and the number of raspberries used, the gin is not sickly sweet, and the raspberries aren’t overpowering. The taste is slightly tart with subtle sweetness, making it a wonderfully smooth gin. Juniper is nicely present with a hint of pepper and coriander.

After the berries have given enough flavour to the gin, the gin-soaked raspberries are sold in local markets and other food stalls as boozy raspberries, perfect with ice cream or as a garnish for cocktails. Or more recently, they have been bottled into cocktail mixes together with lemon juice and a selection of spices. At 2.5% ABV, these are also a wonderful addition to many low-ABV drinks. There’s also Pinkster Royale (24% ABV), a “skinny” liqueur made from… boozy raspberries! Add a dash to Prosecco for an easy festive fizz (or Champagne if you are really celebrating)! No point wasting any good ingredients!
Serving suggestions
Raspberry Caipiroska
50ml Vodka
30ml Pinkster Jam Cocktail Mix*
Half a lime (in wedges)
Ice (ideally crushed)
Muddle the lime together with cocktail mix. Add vodka and crushed ice. Give it a stir and garnish.
*The cocktail mix is thick and hard to measure so I just ended up pouring it straight into the glass. You don’t need too much as it has a strong flavour.

Raspberry French 75
25ml Pinkster Gin
25ml Pinkster Royale*
25ml Limoncello
Dash of lemon juice
Prosecco (or other sparkling wine)
In a cocktail shaker, combine all but the Prosecco and shake well with ice. Double strain into a Champagne flute and top up with the fizz. Garnish. The limoncello is optional, but it adds a bit of sweetness to the drink as Pinkster Royale doesn’t have added sugar.
*Pinkster Royale can be replaced with Pinkster Jam Cocktail Mix, it goes perfectly with limoncello.

Pinkster Aperitivo
40ml Pinkster Gin
25ml Campari
20ml Pinkster Winter Cocktail Mix*
Dash of lemon juice
15ml Cointreau
Mix all ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice. Double strain into a coupe (or a fancy tea cup) and garnish.
*Like the Jam Cocktail Mix, this is thick and hard to measure so adjust to taste.
